It’s official. The titles for the second half of Outlander Season One were announced and are listed below. I’m thrilled my temporary titles were not far off.
Episode 109: THE RECKONING (Airs April 4, 2015)
Episode 110: BY THE PRICKING OF MY THUMBS (Airs April 11, 2015)
Episode 111: THE DEVIL’S MARK (Airs April 18, 2015)
Episode 112: LALLYBROCH (Airs April 25, 2015)
Episode 113: THE WATCH (Airs May 2, 2015)
Episode 114: THE SEARCH (Airs May 9, 2015)
Episode 115: WENTWORTH PRISON (Airs May 16, 2015)
Episode 116: TO RANSOM A MAN’S SOUL (Airs May 30, 2015)
The speculation on plot summaries continues, although the titles help quite a bit. We also learned from Ron Moore quite recently that Wentworth happenings will take place in Episodes 115 and 116. In further news, Outlander Season Two will not air in the United States until some time in 2016 – no real surprise. The production has several months of principle photography, beginning in May 2015, followed by several more months of post production. Patience is required for all things of great quality, aye?
Fair warning, SPOILERS are ahead. If you have not yet read the novel, all I can say is . . . come on! You have three months to tear through it. If you prefer to be surprised, then just look at the pretty pictures and skip the text. :o)
Now, let the speculation begin. We’ve all heard/read the second half of the season is going to be very different from the first half – darker with added voiceover(s) from Jamie (Sam Heughan). How much fun will that be with a new perspective in the storytelling, especially near the end?
We learned last week there will indeed be a spanking scene in Episode 109: THE RECKONING, so we have that to look forward to more than Claire . . .
From the trailer and the following the screen caps I added below, it seems Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) escape from Fort William is much more daring and dangerous than their escape in the novel.
What other exciting Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) scenes will be included in Episode #109? Personally, I can’t wait to see Black Jack’s face when he finds out Jamie’s pistol isn’t loaded.

In Episode #110: BY THE PRICKING OF MY THUMBS, will Claire and Jamie return to Castle Leoch where the happy news of their marriage is not so well received by a certain Laoghaire MacKenzie (Nell Hudson)? In this episode Claire does meet the Duke of Sandringham. Is their meeting a chummy tête-à-tête as it looks? Will Arthur Duncan (John Sessions) meet his demise at the hands of his enigmatic and giggling wife, Geillis (Lotte Verbeek)?

In Episode 111: THE DEVIL’S MARK, while Jamie is away, hunting with the Duke, will Claire be duped into visiting Geillis Duncan on the worst possible day? Will Father Bain (Tim McInnerny) sink his claws into Claire and put her on trial for witchcraft because she showed him up in Episode #103: THE WAY OUT? Will Jamie come swooping in just in time to save the day? Will we find out Geillis’ real secret?

Perhaps one of the most anticipated scenes of the second half will be Claire’s turning point at Craigh na Dun when she chooses Jamie over returning to Frank in her own time zone. Will that happen in Episode 112: LALLYBROCH? Do we really care about anything else? Well, I guess I can think of a few more things, like . . .
Will we be granted our first glimpse of Jenny Murray (Laura Donnelly) with Ian-in-a-kilt (Steven Cree)? Will we meet Jenny’s first born – young Jamie? Will Jamie and Jenny have their knock down argument over Black Jack? Ooh, another scene I can’t wait to watch.

In Episode 113: THE WATCH, will we meet the MacNab family – Granny, Ronald, and little Rabbie? Will Jenny have her baby – one of my favorite scenes from the novel? Is this the episode where Jamie and Claire get splinters in their knees from making love on the floor? Will we actually see Jamie get captured by The Watch or perhaps turned over to them by the dastardly McNab? Um . . . so many possibilities. Oh, let’s not forget we get to see Jamie wet when he takes a dip in the mill pond.

Will Episode 114: THE SEARCH be one of the episodes where we follow Jamie’s perspective when he’s captured by The Watch? Will Jenny and Claire take off in pursuit to save him? Will Claire meet Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) and find out just what a bastard he can really be when he refuses to help rescue Jamie from his death sentence at Wentworth Prison?

Episode 115: WENTWORTH PRISON, just the title causes shivers, doesn’t it? Is this it? Will this be “the” episode where Black Jack Randall’s dreams come true and Jamie Fraser’s nightmares become reality? And what about Claire? Will we see the limits of her tenacity put to the test? Will she battle wolves or some other obstacle? Will we meet MacRannoch and witness Claire’s emergency surgery on poor Jamie’s hand?
Given how bloody brilliant Episode #106: THE GARRISON COMMANDER is, I can only imagine this episode being just as spectacular. The good news is, we’ve been blessed with another script by Ira Steven Behr for this episode. Tobias Menzies will certainly put in another amazing performance along with his co-stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.

Sadly, Season One must come to end, but only so we can move onto Season Two! At the abbey, will we meet Jamie’s uncle – Abbot Alexander Fraser? Will Claire spill her guts to Brother Anselm? Another highly anticipated scene (at least, for me) will be Claire pretending to be Black Jack Randall to make Jamie fight for his life.
And, of course, I’m sure showrunner Ron Moore has a nerve-wracking cliffhanger planned just to torture us until 2016.
Hi Candida Love your work.
I can confirm those scenes you have of Wentworth are indeed Linithgow Palace (if visiting the corridor on the right as soon as you go through the entrance) Hopefully they will move the bins they keep there at some point. The exterior was filmed at Carlise Castle
Thank you, Anne. Yes, I had a very reliable source on what was shot at Linlinthgow Palace – a beautiful place! Thanks for the info on the exteriors.
Cheers!
Wow! I’ve got to get with the program. There are SO many Outlander related blogs out there but yours is one of the very few I have bookmarked. This is the first time I’ve checked since the first of the year and, as usual, you are just brilliant. I really enjoy your insights and I especially enjoyed your escapades in Scotland last year with Mandy. April can’t get here fast enough. Keep it coming lady.
Thank you, Susan. I know there are several fan sites out there. I’m honored you enjoy mine so much. Had a fantastic time in Alba. Can’t wait to go back!
Just perfect! I really enjoy your posts 🙂
Thank you, Amy! I enjoy doing them, though they are a lot of work. lol
Candida_LN Absolutely wonderful work!! Love checking in on your site! I have a quirky sense of humor and your writing sometimes has me in giggles!! Love the posters and just looking at where you separated it into episodes I was just about at the same place with you. I dread Wentworth but DG’s wonderful explanation of why it is in the book helps me to understand it’s importance. Happy New Year to you and with your wonderful work it will keep me verra busy until April 4th!!
Absolutely Brilliant! Thank you for this! You are so very talented! This page will be bookmarked and revisited often 🙂 Oh, April 4… So close, and yet not really!
Thank you, Leanne! Hope I can keep you entertained until April 4th.
BRAVO Candida! You did an awesome job with this! Absolutely brilliant! Thank You!
Question for you . . . One of my favorite scenes in the book is the very last chapter where they make love in the mineral water! I noticed you didn’t mention it! Do you think it will be in the Series??? If not I just may cry me a river! 😀
It’s very difficult to predict what they will include, isn’t it? Ron certainly likes to surprise us. I think no matter where they end it, the sentiment will be preserved. Finding the right location may have presented problems. We’ll see!
Just brilliant…what else can I say. Kudos to you.
Thank you, Jo Ann. And Happy New Year!
I’ve been trying to figure out the Claire holding a knife to Jamie’s throat scene ever since they released that… That’s got to be it!
Great job!
Awesome post 🙂
I just now noticed that the hand holding Jamie down in the last poster looks female – a glimpse of the Claire-as-Randall scene, perhaps??
So exciting!
Either that or perhaps Jamie is thrashing while Claires tries to perform emergency surgery on his hand at MacRannoch’s. She holds the knife to his throat to calm him? Sounds awful but who knows what tweaks they’ll make to the story? Very excited to find out!
awesome. I was wondering how the scene with the sword to his throat tied in but the penny has dropped!!
I so enjoy your musings, Candida. Keep them coming!
Candida, wonderful work! I also hope they keep the series as close to the novel as possible. We really need to see more Jamie in any shape or form.
Your work is just so Wow- thank you! Wherever did you get images of the forthcoming episodes, and is that really Wentworth or simply of a prison. Anyway, you are just incredible. Happy New Year to you & yours.
Thank you, Lizzie. I got the new footage from the short trailer Outlander Starz released last month. A few Wentworth prison scenes were filmed at Linlithgow Palace – Queen Mary’s favorite residence and a magnificent structure, but I don’t know if the exterior was used for the show. Regardless, the image was perfect for my project.
wow, I can hardly wait.of course, I read the book so I know what’s coming
